Frequently Asked Questions

On this page, we answer the most frequently asked questions about our company and products.

What are our raw materials?

Make it GF is a dedicated gluten free and nut free facility.

Our patent pending flour is a proprietary mix of raw white bean flour (sourced from Harvest Innovations), tapioca starch, potato starch and xanthan gum (all sourced from Bob's Red Mill.)

Please note the following allergen information:

Harvest Innovations produces its raw white bean flour in a facility that also processes soy. The flour is thoroughly cooked in our baked products.

Bob's Red Mill processes its starches and xanthan gum is a facility that also processes soy and tree nuts.

Why are our shipping costs so high?

We are a small company that cannot afford to offer free shipping. We charge online shoppers the same prices as our in shop customers. Shipping cost is not built into the price you see.

Unfortunately, many of our most popular products must ship refrigerated to maintain a safe product temperature. Those products must reach the customer overnight.

That's why shipping costs are so high if you live outside the northeast. In the northeast, UPS ground can deliver packages overnight to customers from our shop in Canton Connecticut.

We have tried sending refrigerated packages to test sites in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Washington State. Upon arrival, the temperature of the contents is measured. In all cases thus far, the temperature has been too high, which is a concern for food borne illness. We will not risk making our customers sick.

We are looking into different packaging and larger gel packs, and we have also considered using dry ice. But dry ice would be as expensive as what we do now, so that's out.

We are aware of the problem and will try to have a workable solution soon.

Why do we use sugar?

At Make It GF, the sweetener of choice is generally sugar, and we are often asked why.

We use sugar because it is the most inexpensive sweetener. We realize that gluten free products are more expensive than standard wheat based products and try whenever we can to keep our prices as low as possible.

We use sugar because it is vegan.

Agave syrup or honey would throw off the liquid ratio in our recipes.

We avoid artificial sugars of all kinds, preferring to keep our ingredient list as simple and easy to read as possible.

We use sugar because it's taste and texture effect in baked goods is not replicated by sweeteners such as Stevia.

Are our products keto?

No, our products are inconsistent with a keto diet.
